About Me
When I was about 8 I started to swim, I had a very sporty/active childhood, my mum was also a group fitness instructor and personal trainer so grew up with a very healthy lifestyle. I stared in a swimming club, training and competing in various events at state and national level in the pool, swimming twice a day weeks days, 5am starts and afternoons after school and competing on the weekend. I lived and breathed swimming. As I started to get older I started to venture out and started swimming longer distance and more open water. I have swum the bank to barrack ( Perth to Freo 16km), Rottnest Channel Swim (in a team and a few time solo 21km) and in summer swam all the small events in the ocean and swan river.
In 1999, I had a car accident and was in a coma with head injuries, punctured lunge, and a shattered pelvis, I was unconscious for 5 days and didn't speak for 3 weeks (I cannot remember any of this) After I recovered I was offered the opportunity to join a team and in 2000 we did a crossing of the English Channel.
I met my partner and got married and since then have had four children, over the space of 15years I put on a lot of weight and at my heaviest I was around 140kg. When I had my fourth son and he got to 2 & 1/2, I decided enough was enough and I joined a gym again (over the years having kids I had joined various gyms at various times to try and loose weight but never ended up going it was like a donation to the gym each week.
I have been on many fad diets, lost some weight, put it back on and lost again) So in 2016 I decided it was time to used the gym and get fit & healthy for my children, to be able to run around and play with them at the park not just sit on the sidelines, I started in the far back corner in the dark and started participating in Body Combat classes and metafit at my local park, I started tracked my food on my fitnesspal. The weight started to come off and I slowly started to move forward out of the corner.
I was enjoying the me time and started to remember how much I loved to be active and its just gone from there, I trained in Body Pump my first program, it was scary and very out of my comfort zone but I loved the feeling after I had just taught a class, I loved being able to share my love for fitness and being able to help people find their love of fitness. I have also met some wonderful people who have played a huge part in my journey and I will be forever thankful for what they have helped me with and I'm sure they will be part of my life for a long time.
Since then I have gained the confidence to train in various other programs, Metafit, Body Combat (where it all started, my first love), Metapwr, Hiit Step.
I finally finished my Cert 4 in Fitness in December 2019
